Inventor of the TV Remote Dies


Chicago: Eugene Polley, the inventor of the television remote, has died at the age of 96 years in a hospital in Chicago, USA, on Sunday. Said spokesman John Taylor of Zenith Electronics in Chicago, reports the Associated Press on Tuesday (22/5).

Taylor said, Polley was always proud of the discovery of advanced technology it until his death. He always showed his remote native Flash-Matic to the guests who visited the apartment and how technology can affect the current remote technology.

"He is also proud to have the TV remote flats and modern sailing today," said Taylor. "He always keep the original remote that works."



Chicago's citizens and fellow engineers at Zenith, Robert Adler, ever Emmy Award diiberikan award in 1997 as the originator of the first TV remote technology. In 2009, he was also awarded Masaru Ibuka Consumer Electronics Award from the Institute of Electronic and Electrical Engineers (IEEE).

During the 47-year career as engineers, Polley has obtained 18 patents in the U.S.. In Zenith, his career started as a warehouse keeper. Polley also been working on radar technology to the U.S. Department of Defense during World War II. He helped develop the push-button radio and video discs for cars, pioneer DVD today. (SHA)
