yria: Massacre Houla act of anti-government armed groups

Damascus, the Syrian government has begun an inquiry into the massacre sekitaer 108 civilians, including 49 children and 34 women in Houla, Syria a few days ago. In this investigation, the Syrian government said the massacre was carried out anti-government armed groups.

 This was conveyed by the head of the Syrian investigation, Brigadier General Qassem Jamaleddine Jamal Suleiman as reported by Press TV on Friday (01/06/2012).

 In a press conference in Damascus, Syria, Jamaleddine say, between 600 and 800 armed terrorists using heavy weapons to carry out the slaughter in Houla on May 25.



 "It seems that all the victims came from families who refused to rise up peacefully against the government or take up arms, but clashed with armed groups," said Jamaleddine.

 He said that the facts and evidence suggests that the victims were shot from close range. According to him, there's no burn marks or other evidence that would indicate that the Syrian army artillery attacks have led to mass death.

 According to the Syrian general, the terrible massacre was carried out as an effort to eliminate the government's presence in the area completely and turn it into areas that are beyond government control.

 "Killing children is not fulfilling government objectives, but objectives such armed groups," said Jamaleddine.

 Syrian general statement is contrary to UN Security Council statement has strongly condemned the massacre in Houla. According to the UN Security Council, the massacre involved a series of government artillery attacks and shots of tanks in residential areas.


 But the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has denied involvement in the bloodshed. Assad's regime called the terrorists as the perpetrators of the massacre.
